Tamil Nadu to host VaVoVa-2011-Organized by Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency(TEDA)- South India’s largest International Renewable Energy Expo and Conference- Chennai-January 14-16
Tamil Nadu has been a pioneer in the renewable energy area with Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA) being the first nodal agency established in India for the same.
Since, Tamil Nadu has been a pioneer in the wind energy space and was the first to install wind energy generators(WEG) in India. There has also been a lot of focus on bio energy and the state just released the solar roadmap in consultation with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).
” The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, India has announced an ambitious four fold increase in renewable energy by 2022 to a capacity of 72.4 GW and Tamil Nadu aims to continue being in the leadership in this growth. We believe that renewables have a key role to play and that it is possible that renewable energy will attain grid parity with fossil fuels at around Rs. 7-8/ kwhr in the coming years. Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency(TEDA) will continue to be in the forefront and has announced the VaVoVa-2011 International Renewable Energy Expo and Conference on January 14-16 to be held in Chennai. “, said Dr. Christodas Gandhi I.A.S, Chairman and Managing Director, TEDA,speaking to Panchabuta.
There are 24 sessions that have been planned for the 3 days and numerous topics will be discussed including Renewable Energy Certificates(REC), REC trading, Renewable Energy(RE) Regulatory Framework and Policies, Solar Developers under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission(JNNSM) who will share their views, case study from Mosear Baer on their 5MW PV power plant, SPV Cell technology and Balance of Systems. Also included will be detailed sessions on Low and Medium temperature Solar Collectors.
In the wind energy area, sessions will include discussion on Increasing wind power potential and challenges, Technology development, certification and site identification. There are detailed sessions on various Bio energies and Waste to Energy recovery systems.
The Expo will feature a number of local , national and multinational companies to the participants.
“The conference aims to bring various participants in the ecosystem on a common platform to discuss the way forward on the ambitious renewable energy programs. There are number of developers who have been awarded projects under the JNNSM scheme and they are looking for technology partners and Balance of System. A number of Wind Energy Generator (WEG) manufacturers will also be present to showcase their technology and for EPC companies in the bio energy space to meet developers”, Dr. Christodas Gandhi said.
The conference is also unique in that it is aimed at spreading the Renewable Energy science to the colleges and has hence organized a college education fair for students. Also, a mega competition on “Innovative ideas on Renewable Energy for college students” has been organized with a whopping first prize of Rs. One Lakh (total prize money of Rs. Two Lakh). It is expected to draw more than 500 participants and at a similar competition held last year at Chennai during the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Day(RGRED), 108 projects from various colleges were showcased and there were more than 300 participants.
The conference will also be attended by scores of engineering college administrators and decision makers from all over Tamil Nadu, who are keen on installing solar steam cookers, aero generators, biogas plants, solar air-conditioning etc.
The VaVoVa 2011 International Renewable Energy Expo and Conference is aimed at bringing together in a single platform, various consultants, industry experts, policy makers, vendors and manufactures along with project developers.
