India likely to add more than 9 GW solar capacity in 2017: Mercom

TANGEDCO to float another tender for 500 MW solar power

According to reports, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) has permitted the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) to float another tender to procure 500 MW of solar power through competitive bidding. The move follows the tepid response to TANGEDCO’s earlier tender, which drew 20 bidders for setting up solar power plants in the State for a combined capacity of 122 MW. Allahabad police lines to run on solar power

Odisha to set up rooftop solar panels in 15 towns

According to reports, in its bid to harness the green energy potential, Odisha plans to set up solar panels on rooftops of government buildings in 15 key towns. “Odisha is betting big on non-conventional sources of energy. According to reports, centre has dropped the plan to set up the world’s biggest solar power project in Leh owing to the huge transmission system cost.
