According to reports, CIIE Initiatives, a non-profit company set up by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad’s incubator-cum-angel investor, the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), is in talks with the central government and private organisations for establishing a renewable energy fund. Northern Lights Capital Group,LLC (“Northern Lights”), which provides strategic resources and capital to boutique asset management firms, has invested in Nereus Capital (“Nereus”), a private equity firm targeting renewable energy and clean technology opportunities in India, it was announced today. India’s clean power sector could attract $169 bn in a decade according to a report by The Pew Charitable Trusts

According to report released  by The Pew Charitable Trusts , India could attract as much as $ 169 bn in clean power project investments in the next decade and the annual clean energy investment in India is forecast to grow by as much as 763 percent over the next 10 years. Japan Bank for International Cooperation to provide upto $2 bn equity funding for private sector projects in India including Renewable Energy; Plans to create Green Fund for India with other sponsors

According to reports, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) is looking at providing equity funding to private sector projects in India instead of debt support for public sector entities. The principal Japanese overseas funding agency is also shifting its focus on the Indian market from China following political tensions with its Asian neighbour. Foreign Direct Investment in Renewable Energy in India at USD 497.91 million for year 2009-2010

The government today said Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in renewable energy sector has shown an upward trend and investment in the sector in 2009-10 has been very attractive. “The FDI in renewable sector has been growing rapidly.
