SAIL TO GENERATE POWER FROM MUNICIPAL WASTE

According to reports, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), India’s largest steel maker in public sector, will set up a processing plant for generating power from municipal solid waste generated in Bhilai township, company officials said on Saturday. The processing plant would utilise pyrolysis/ biomethanation/ RDF based Municipal solid waste technology or any other gasification technology for ‘Waste to Energy’ power generation. According to reports, about 200 MW of wind and solar power plants in Tamil Nadu are in the danger of losing incentives because the State government has been unable to appoint a person to the post of Chief Electrical Inspector to Government (CEIG). MNRE receives Rs 10,239 cr from NCEF since FY’15

According to reports, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has received Rs 10,239 crore from the National Clean Energy Fund in the three fiscals to 2016-17. “From FY 2014-15 up to the current financial year, i.e 2016-17, Rs 10,239.18 crore was allocated from the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy,” Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha. Draft Tariff Norms Spark Worries Over Power Grid, NTPC Earnings

According to reports, stocks of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. and NTPC Ltd. have fallen 3-7 percent over the past month on fears that the government may bring down regulated returns for conventional utilities. Trai extends industry feedback deadlines again on ways to cut telco carbon emissions

According to reports, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has for a second time extended the deadlines for stakeholder comments and counter-comments on its discussion paper on ways to reduce carbon emissions in the telecom industry and computing carbon footprint in mobile networks. The telecom regulator has now sought comments on the discussion paper by April 3 and counter-comments by April 17. Greenko Group eyes Bhoruka Power’s clean energy portfolio

According to reports, Greenko Group is looking to acquire hydro and wind power producer Bhoruka Power Corp. Ltd’s renewable energy portfolio of 310 megawatts (MW). L&T Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd holds an equity stake worth Rs350 crore in Bhoruka Power, which currently operates 110MW of hydropower capacity, 170MW of wind capacity and 30MW of solar capacity in Karnataka, Rajasthan and Haryana, and is building a 200MW wind farm in Karnataka. Actis sets aside $500 million for renewable energy projects in India

According to reports, private equity fund Actis Capital, which has just completed raising $2.75 billion, has earmarked $500 million for investing in India’s wind and solar projects, according to industry sources.
