BARC expertise for waste disposal

According to reports, Madurai is all set to adopt Nisargruna, a solid waste management technology devised by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), to convert biodegradable waste collected from households in rural areas into methane and organic manure. The District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) has begun the process of identifying sites for establishing Nisargruna biogas plants. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to earn Rs 2.75 crore annually from biogas

According to reports, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has awarded a contract for sale of biogas generated at the sewage treatment plant at Pirana to Rockstone Infrastructure Private Limited. With this, AMC expects to generate Rs 2.75 crore per annum, for 18 months. Up till now, the gas generated at the sewage treatment plant was burnt and was being wasted. Punjab panel to look into plan to recycle agriculture waste

According to reports, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today constituted a committee to study the feasibility of utilising recycled agriculture waste as alternative fuel. The committee, headed by Agriculture department secretary K S Pannu, will find ways to implement the project in the state in collaboration with a private firm. My Eco Energy entering bio-diesel market

According to reports, Pune-based My Eco Energy is entering the bio-diesel market and the company plans to manufacture the fuel in three locations across the country, and also retail it. Gujarat to generate energy from waste in 50 cities: Narendra Modi
