JA Solar, a leading Chinese company has exported solar modules with a total capacity of 1,000 MW to India.
The company is into manufacturing of silicone wafers, cells and modules used in solar PV systems. The company said that by the end of 2017, its production capacity is expected to reach 3 GW, 7 GW and 6 GW respectively, as mentioned on a national news portal.
For the last two years, the company is striving to establish its footprint in India, as it is one of the largest PV markets in the world, by entering into strategic partnership with local developers and independent power producers.
The 1,000 MW of solar modules exported to India enables electricity generation capacity of approximately 1.7 billion units. This can result in reduction of carbon emission by 1.47 million tons annually.
