India’s solar energy capacity expanded by record 5,525 MW

According to reports, India’s solar energy capacity has expanded by a record 5,525.98 MW in 2016-17, according to the latest figures provided by the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE). In comparison, India had added 3,010 MW of solar capacity in 2015-16, which shows that growth nearly doubled over the past year. India to add 6,000 MW wind power in FY18

According to reports, Indian wind energy sector witnessed a record installation of 5,400 MW in FY17, registering a 60 per cent growth as against 3,400 MW in FY16. Fortum commissions 70 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan

According to reports, Solar power company Fortum has commissioned a 70 Megawatt solar power plant at Bhadla solar park in Rajasthan, the company’s third and so far biggest commissioned solar project. Fortum won a reverse auction for the project in January 2016 and the building of the solar plant was conducted on schedule. RaysExperts commissions 5.5 Megawatt solar power project for DMRC

According to reports, Indian solar power Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company RaysExperts has announced it has commissioned a 5.5 Megawatt solar project for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The project has the capacity to produce 87 million units of power every year. “RaysExperts’ solar installation will supply power to multiple metro stations, cleaning bays, parking yards and other metro rail supporting facilities,” the company said in a statement. ADB lends $175 m to Power Grid Corporation

According to reports, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has extended a $175 million loan to the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.
