Solar power production crosses 10 gigawatts

According to reports, power production using conventional resources grew about 5% in the 11-month period of FY16, whereas production from renewable resources increased 26% during the same period.

The total power generation grew 6% from a year-ago period.
In coming future, renewable energy may contribute to a larger part of power generation, owing to increased funding by the central government. The government has upgraded the target for renewable sources from 20 giga watts to 175 giga watts, and it plans to operate 100 giga watts of grid-connected solar projects, by 2022. This year solar capacity using both rooftop and off grid projects, has crossed 10 giga watts.
