Govt slashes IREDA’s borrowing target for 2017-18

According to reports, the government has lowered the estimated borrowing target of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) — the key lender to clean energy sector and also called India’s green bank — by a massive 34 per cent to ₹8,043.31 crore in Budget 2017. The Revised Budgetary borrowing for financial year 2016-17 stood at ₹ 12,212.60 crore. India’s solar power capacity crosses 9 GW

According to reports,  country’s solar power generation capacity stood at over 9 GW as on December 31, 2016 with Tamil Nadu having the largest output capability followed by Rajasthan and Gujarat, Parliament was informed today. Total power generation capacity was 9,012 MW as on December 31, 2016. BHEL bags 3.6 MW solar rooftop order from Surat Municipal Corp

According to reports, State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said that it has secured order for the installation of Solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) rooftop systems totalling 3.6 MW from Surat Municipal Corporation. While all the 10 identified areas of installation would be within the municipal limits of the city; 1MW energy will be required for Surat Smart City, BHEL said in a statement today. Solar installation crosses 1 Giga Watt in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu

According to reports, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have crossed 1 Giga Watt (GW) in solar power installations while Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Pradesh are close to this mark, the government told the Rajya Sabha quoting data as on December 31, 2016. Maharashtra to take joint venture route for solar push

According to reports,  Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MahaGenco) is looking at public-private partnership (PPP) and joint venture routes to undertake works for adding 2,500 megawatt (mw) grid-connected solar energy capacity in three years. The state power generation utility already has 180 mw of installed capacity in grid-connected solar power.
