CESC to add 500mw renewable energy capacity

According to reports, RP Sanjiv Goenka Group-owned company CESC plans to invest Rs 3,000-Rs 3,500 crore in the renewable energy space to add 500 mw to its green energy portfolio over the next 18 months. At present, the Kolkata-headquartered group has renewable energy capacity of 75 mw and thermal capacity of 2,500 mw. Sale of renewable energy certificates dips 6.61% in July

According to reports, sale of renewable energy certificates (RECs) has declined 6.61 per cent to 1.73 lakh in July compared to 1.85 lakh in the previous month. India has two power exchanges approved by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission – Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) and Power Exchange India Limited (PXIL) — which hold auction of RECs on the last Wednesday of every month. India set to allow 100% bio-diesel for vehicles

According to reports, in a bid to push higher use of renewable energy, India is set to allow 100% bio-diesel for vehicles. The decision will pave way for manufacture of new engines that can use this fuel. The compatibility of vehicle to level of bio-diesel blend will be defined by the vehicle manufacturer and the same will also be displayed on the vehicle, the ministry of road transport and highways said in a notiication.
