According to reports, in an attempt to address the power woes of the city, a solar park is expected to span a large part of Bareilly, thus going a long way in providing a huge impetus for the upcoming textile cluster.
Catering to the needs of farmers, industrialists and the public alike, the solar project in Bareilly and Badaun district is expected to span over 250 acres, producing power up to 50 MW.
As per officials at the New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (NEDA) the project estimated to cost Rs 500 cores that will help in meeting ever expending power supply demands in near future.
Talking to TOI, Project Officer, NEDA Bareilly and Badaun district M Javed Khan said, “A solar park is on the cards in Bareilly and Badaun district provided that local administration is able to find a piece of land estimated to be around 250 acres for the project in both districts. A letter has been dispatched to District Magistrates of both the districts and if an appropriate site is available then soon solar parks in both the districts will be constructed by private firms.”
It is believed that Bareilly needs around 300 to 350 MW power supply while the demand increases in peak hours, and the solar park will address power woes of the locals to a large extent.
