According to reports, solar equipment manufacturers on Thursday said they need more support from the Government in the form of relaxed taxation structures in order to become competitive in both domestic and global markets.
At a workshop organised by the Center for Study of Science Technology and Policy (CSTEP), key recommendations to the government from the industry were discussed. One of the major demands included financial support and a boost to research and development efforts in solar component manufacturing in order to make India self-sufficient in solar equipment manufacturing by 2032.
“We need to develop India-specific technologies. The industry should focus on developing hybrid technologies and they need policy support to be able to do this,” said Rajet Sud, Energy Specialist for Atria Power.
