According to reports, Singapore-based Continuum Wind Energy has teamed up with Inox Wind, an arm of Gujarat Fluorochemicals, one of India’s leading wind power solutions providers to put up a 170 MW wind power unit in and around Ratlam and Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh. Continuum Wind Energy, whose majority holding is with Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, has placed an order worth over Rs 900 crore with Inox Wind for procurement of 85 units of wind turbines, erection and commissioning of them, operations and maintenance of the units, said Devansh Jain, director, Inox Wind.
“We are excited over partnering with Continuum Wind Energy in their ambitious plan to be one of India’s leading renewable IPPs. Inox’s 100 meter rotor diameter turbine is expected to be a game changer in the wind industry in India. We continue to leverage our strong competitive positioning to emerge as the leading wind solutions provider in India”, said Jain. This incidentally is one of the largest wind turbine orders in India for a single project. Significantly, Inox Wind has recently launched 2MW wind turbine with 100 meter rotor diameter, a variant of its well established 2MW wind turbine platform.
Arvind Bansal, CEO & director, Continuum Wind Energy, on his parts, said, “In pursuit of our strategy of creating efficient, large scale, world class wind farms in India, we are partnering with Inox, given their technology that generates more energy in low speed winds. We believe that the successful implementation of such projects will not only result in a cleaner energy base for India but also will help to empower the rural communities of Madhya Pradesh.”
Jain had earlier told FC that his group, which has diverse interests in industrial gases, engineering plastics, refrigerants, chemicals, carbon credits, cryogenic engineering, renewable energy and entertainment, was looking at a 500 MW wind power generation capacity and a topline revenue of nearly Rs 3000 crore in the next one year. The group also has a independent power producer (IPP) arm in wind power sector, whose current generation capacity is 250 MW and the company has plans to go on adding 100-150 MW every year, he said.
