Workshop on research opportunities in Electrical Engineering

Solarillion Foundation, a non-profit research, education and outreach organisation, organised a one-day workshop on ‘Research Opportunities in Emerging Areas of Electrical Engineering,’ recently, at the IIT Madras Research Park. The one-day workshop brought together over 125 students from across 17 institutions from around Tamil Nadu including Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, SRM University, Vellore Institute of Technology (Chennai Campus), Dr. MGR Educational and Research Institute University, RMK Engineering College, Jeppiaar Engineering College, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, and Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, among others.

The research workshop covered topics such as renewable energy — solar, microgrids, embedded systems, power electronics, Internet of Things (IoT) and sustainable engineering solutions. An innovative research idea contest was held during the workshop where more than 15 teams participated, and this was won by students from Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering.
