According to reports, as part of its green initiative, National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) has announced establishment of a grid connected photovoltaic system rooftop solar project of 160 kilowatt peak (kWp) for its corporate office building here.
The project setting up activity was formally launched by Chairman-cum-Managing Director Anshuman Das on Wednesday.
The project is expected to generate green renewable energy of about 2.10 lakh unit per annum and will entail a 30 per cent subsidy of the capital cost provided by Central Government through Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).
In its efforts towards promoting sustainable development by harnessing the unconventional and renewable energy sources, Nalco has already commissioned two wind power plants of 50.4 mw and 47.6 mw capacities at Gandikota in Andra Pradesh and Ludarva in Rajasthan respectively.
Besides, plans are afoot to set up the third wind power plant at its own mined area of Panchpatmali bauxite deposit in Koraput district.
