According to reports, Rajiv Gandhi Technical University (RGTU) has received clearance from Union ministry of environment on Friday to install solar-based futuristic power plant on cross linear concentrated solar power on the campus.
The objective of the plant will be for the research and development purposes. Besides, university campus will use the power generated by the plant. The construction of the plant will start soon with the help of the Tokyo Engineering Corporation, Japan. RGTU vice chancellor professor Piyush Trivedi said the plant will generate 30 kw electricity.
Professor Trivedi said the new technology will help achieve solar thermal power as per the Jawahar Lal National Solar Mission (J
JLNSM. under which the target is to produce 10,000 MW solar thermal power by 2022.
Recently, members of a Japanese delegation visited university campus and discussed installation of CL-CSP plant on the campus. The land has been identified for the plant.
