According to reports, FICCI, one of India’s leading industry bodies, will support a green economy summit that aims at bringing together business leaders to forge global partnerships and provide paths to a sustainable future.
The first World Green Economy Summit (WGES) in the Middle East and North Africa region will be held here on April 15-16 under the theme ‘Global Partnerships for Sustainable Future’.
The summit aims at attracting prominent experts from energy, finance and business sectors in addition to government leaders, international organisations and private sector to promote capacity-building and highlighting effective policies, legislations and new opportunities for leading businesses supporting the transition to a green economy, according to a press release.
“FICCI is happy to be a part of this unique initiative since it has the potential to emerge as a key platform for global businesses to explore and evolve solutions for building a sustainable future,” said V Saibaba, FICCI’s chairman of renewable energy sector.
Saibaba said the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) facilitates business-to-business connect in the clean energy, environment and carbon market spaces and enables Indian industry to integrate with the global mainstream.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, chairman of the summit and MD, CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority said private sector plays a remarkable role in the transition into green economy.
Al Tayer appreciated the support extended by FICCI, that represents over 2 million private and public companies all over India, to the summit, to be held in conjunction with the next session of Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014).
