Solar power a lucrative new opportunity for Punjab SMEs

According to reports, Vishav Mohan (name changed), a small entrepreneur based in Ludhiana, Punjab, was running a sewing machine company that was losing money owing to the decline in demand caused by a glut of cheaper models imported from China. TN launches free CFL bulb scheme to hut-dwellers

According to reports, Tamil Nadu government on Monday launched the first phase of providing free compact fluorescent light bulbs to over 14 lakh hut-dwellers in the state, an energy-saving measure aimed at saving 40 mw of power. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa also launched over Rs 500 crore worth of projects under the Energy Department through video conferencing from her camp office at Kodanadu in the Nilgiris district. Sri Vishnu educational group launches solar power plant

According to reports, a 200 kWP rooftop solar photovoltaic plant became operational on the campus of Sri Vishnu group of educational institutes here on Saturday. M. Kamalakar Babu, Managing Director of the Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh formally launched the plant. According to K.V. Vishnu Raju, Chairman of Sri Vishnu Educational Society, the plant consists of 800 photovoltaic modules, each designed with a generation capacity of 250Wp. Tamil Nadu Energy Conservation Building Code gets ready

According to reports,  soon, the commercial and other major buildings in the state may have to adhere toEnergy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) as the process is on to make it mandatory in order to conserve energy.
