According to reports, Solar energy is set to power the famedSamayapuram temple once the renovation work is completed. The temple is being given a facelift with the intent to provide ample facilities for the ever-rising number of devotees. The renovation work is expected to be completed by March-end, temple administrators said.
Currently, structural works are being carried out for the expansion of the ‘prakaras’ (walkways) and solar panels are being installed. Three solar plants set up at the cost of Rs 40 lakh will come up at the ammavasai mandapam (waiting hall), mudimandapam and near the guest house, and is expected to generate 30kv of power, temple authorities said. They expect the monthly power bill to be reduced by at least Rs five lakh.
“The renovation work is progressing well and is being completed in phases. The project is being carried in such a way without hindering the devotees,” said G Thenarrassu, joint commissioner of the temple.
