World Bank keen to finance solar projects under National Solar Mission phase II

According to reports, World Bank has launched consultations with the ministries of finance and new and renewable energy for financing solar projects under phase II of the National Solar Mission which envisages capacity addition of grid connected 9,000 MW. Total requirement of funds is of the order of Rs 80,000 crore ($13 billion) of which as high as Rs 54,000 crore ($9 billion) will be debt based on 70:30 debt equity ratio. More Indian airports taking to solar energy

According to reports, airports in India are increasingly looking to solar power. After Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announcing last week that it had set up a 2.14 MW solar power plant, Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) has said it too has set up a 1 MW plant. NTPC ties up 55 m euro loan with KfW

According to reports, NTPC, on Wednesday, said it had tied up a loan facility for 55 million euro with German developmental financial institution KfW to part finance its Mouda thermal power project in Maharashtra. The loan is on a standalone basis without sovereign guarantee. Govt allows CIL to explore coal bed methane

According to reports, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Thursday allowed Coal India Ltd to explore coal bed methane (a form of gas found in coal beds) in its existing mines. This puts to end the year-long dispute between the Ministries for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Coal on simultaneous mining of coal and CBM. Suzlon arm REpower bags two orders from wind farms in France

According to reports, Wind turbine maker Suzlon on Thursday said its arm REpower Systems has bagged two contracts for supplying 20 wind turbines in France. “REpower Systems SE, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group, bagged two contracts, totalling 40 MW, for the supply of 20 wind turbines with an output of 2.05 MW each,” Suzlon Energy said in a statement.
