World Bank to soon release Indian power sector review report

According to reports,  at a time when the country’s power sector is facing tough times, the World Bank will soon come out with an elaborate sectoral review report listing out challenges as well as initiatives to improve current scenario. The report would have extensive review of Electricity Act implementation, performance and governance of various power utilities, including distribution companies ( discoms). Andhra Pradesh to have 2 solar cities

According to reports, Andhra Pradesh will have two solar cities – one each in Telangana and coastal Andhra regions. They will be developed as part of the national plan unveiled by the Union Ministry of Renewable Energy. The Ministry has identified Vijayawada in coastal Andhra and Mahabubnagar in Telangana regions to be developed as solar cities. Solar plants at Rubber Board Research Institute Kerala

According to reports, Minister for Power and Transport Aryadan Mohammed inaugurated two solar plants of 50 KW each at the Rubber Research Institute here on Friday. Chairperson of Rubber Board Sheela Thomas presided over the function. The solar plants have the capacity to produce 400 units daily. Delhi airport hosts mega solar power plant

According to reports, the GMR Group-operated Delhi International Airport has become the first in Asia to host a mega solar power plant on its premises. A 2.14 MW solar plant has just been set up and is all set for ribbon-cutting, it is learnt. The airports of Kochi and Bhubaneswar have solar plants, but they are of 100 kW capacity each.
