National Clean Energy Fund to subsidise Phase II of National Solar Mission

Government proposes to tap the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF) proceeds to subsidise the capacity addition envisaged in the 2nd phase of the National Solar Mission (NSM). India sees Rs 746.29 bn investments in renewable energy in last three years

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has informed that during the years 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 an estimated investment of around Rs. 74,629 crore was made in renewable energy sector. Actis Surpasses Target With $1.15 Billion for Africa, Asia Power

According to reports, Actis LLP, a London-based private-equity company, raised $1.15 billion from pension and sovereign wealth funds to invest in electricity businesses, exceeding its target by more than 50 percent. The Actis Energy 3 fund will focus on power generation and distribution in Latin America, Africa and Asia, the company said today in a statement. Singapore company projects demand for solar chargers in rural India

According to reports,Singapore-based solar charger maker, Third Wave Power, expects a strong demand for its power packages in rural India. “We expect demand for portable solar charges to reach a high of 40 million units in the next five years in rural India, including small towns,” Third Wave’s co-founder and chief executive officer V S Hariharan said here today. Mahbubnagar, Vijayawada to be developed as solar cities

According to reports, New and renewable energy minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that Vijayawada and Mahbubnagar will be developed as solar cities. “Vijayawada and Mahbubnagar have been identified for developing them as solar cities,” Abdullah informed the Rajya Sabha.
