Indore: Making campus green, Daly College shows the way

According to reports, Daly College in association with Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE), Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IIT-I) and Association for Development and Research of Sustainable Habitat (ADaRSH) organised a workshop on ‘Green built environment for decision makers through GRIHS platform’ on Saturday.

The students of the Green Club of Daly College gave a presentation on all the activities taking place in the school to make the campus green.

Daly College principal Sumer Singh shared the initiatives taken by the students of the college for green environment in the campus and suggested ADaRSH to give accreditation to schools that are taking initiatives in maintaining green environment.

ADaRSH is an independent organisation of The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) gives rating to various organisations across the world to calculate the correct expenses incurred on energy.

IIT-Indore officials shared the institute’s plans of developing a sustainable infrastructure in its upcoming permanent campus at Simrol.

The IIT-I shared its plan of constructing a net positive campus at Simrol by the end of year 2015 during the conference. IIT-I executive engineer Saroj Malik said that the permanent Simrol campus of the institute will be developed on the lines of green and sustainable building concept and will generate the entire electricity on its own using optimum solar, water and wind energies using Photo Voltaic (PV) modules. IIT-Indore officials also said that they will develop seven lakes and retention polls inside the campus along with a dedicated forest area.
