According to reports, a solar water heater facility has been established at the Tuticorin Government Hospital to cater to the needs of patients. The much needed facility, established at a cost of Rs.6,0,000 was thrown open to the public here on Saturday, Resident Medical Officer J. Silas Jeyamani.
The system has a capacity of heating 500 litres of water. Patients and attendants can get hot water from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., and for one hour in the evening from 4 p.m.
As patients in the maternity ward felt the need for hot water at regular intervals, the facility has been installed. Based on the usage of this system, the hospital was also contemplating on setting up an additional facility on the premises, he said.
