SunEdison India and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Chennai, under the department of MSME – Government of Tamil Nadu, today announced a 4-week Solar Installation Training Programme that will take place July 29th through August 29 at EDI campus in Chennai and includes 120 hours of coursework donated by SunEdison, with advisory assistance from the Solarillion Foundation.
“SunEdison is committed to transforming lives through innovation, in this case we are collaborating with the EDI Chennai to help young people become solar entrepreneurs,” said Pashupathy Gopalan,President of Asia (excluding China), Middle-East, South Africa, and Australia for SunEdison. “We share the common goal of improving the level of solar expertise in the state of Tamil Nadu. This program will prepare students for self-employment opportunities and give them the tools to start small-scale solar.
The course covers solar module installation, with technical training provided by SunEdison, and is open to all candidates holding a diploma or an engineering degree. The course is priced at RS 15,000, which covers the cost for all materials. Course fees are to cover educational costs; SunEdison is not receiving any compensation for the coursework provided. In addition to educating students on the mechanics of solar installation, the course will also teach them the entrepreneurial skills that are critical to business success.
