According to reports, the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission plans to take up department-wise and district-wise energy efficiency plans.
P.K. Mohanty, State Chief Secretary and Chairperson of State Energy Conservation Mission, has issued instructions to all key Government departments to chart out energy efficiency plans to save on energy while also laying thrust to harness green energy sources such as solar and wind power, according to a statement from the State Energy Conservation Cell.
A. Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Chief Executive Officer, SECM, said efforts were being made by the mission to study best practices and share success stories for replication.
He was speaking at the two-day seminar on ‘Strategies for energy security’, organised by the Institution of Engineers on the occasion of the 112th birth anniversary of K.L. Rao, the renowned civil engineer.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has rated Andhra Pradesh among 8 major states in the implementation of energy saving programmes.
A concerted effort is now under way involving various departments, farmers associations and industry and trade bodies such as CII, FICCI, Fapcci to ensure there is sustained thrust on energy conservation.
According the estimation of Energy Conservation Committee, there is huge potential for energy savings.
