Zuari Cement Kickstarts Solar Power Project

Zuari Cement inaugurated its solar power project at Yerraguntla on 9th July 2013, an initiative towards energy sustainability in line with the Italcementi Group energy policy.

The plant will produce 850MWh of energy per annum and will form part of the power mix for plant operations. Our Managing Director, Mr. Nabil Francis during the inaugural ceremony emphasized on the company’s commitment towards sustainable development and the project alignment with Group goals on energy efficiency.

This plant will be the first-of-its-kind amongst the cement companies located in the Yerraguntla cluster in Andhra Pradesh. The plant houses 2250 solar PV modules with synchronization at 440v coupled with 18 inverters and a plant load factor in the range of 23-25%.

Zuari Cement is also exploring options for investments in a wind farm to add to its basket of sustainable energy.
