Kerala PSUs to switch over to solar power

According to reports, ten more public sector units are looking to switch to solar energy after Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) today became the first. P. K. Kunhalikkutty, Minister for Industries, switched on the off-grid solar photo voltaic system at the KSIDC corporate office here in the city.

He commended the effort, saying that it was a pioneering initiative that should be emulated by Government departments across the State. “We are happy that KSIDC is setting an example for other such organisations by switching to sustainable, clean energy,” he said.

V. Somasundaram, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Commerce), said solar photo voltaic systems were being considered for Travancore Cochin Chemicals; Steel and Industrial Forgings; Steel Industries Kerala; Malabar Cements; Kerala Minerals and Metals; SIDCO and KINFRA.
