India may defer penalties on $1 billion of solar thermal plants

According to reports, India’s ministry of new and renewable energy is seeking to defer penalties on about $1 billion of solar-thermal power projects that are delayed by a lack of water, financing difficulties and equipment shortages. Andhra Pradesh solar project bidders to extend validity of offers

According to reports, the Andhra Pradesh Power Coordination Committee has asked prospective bidders of solar photo-voltaic projects in the State to come forward with their proposal to take part in the process for finalisation of developers. The Committee also asked some of the bidders to extend the bid validity and bank guarantee period till September 30, in cases which are now under consideration by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Renergy 2013 to find new initiatives and create awareness about renewable energy sources

According to reports, a sand sculpture highlighting the need to promote renewable energy sources was put up at the Marina beach on Tuesday. Mumbai’s ‘waste to energy’ project to generate 30 MW of power

According to reports, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to generate 30 MW of power from its Rs 300-crore worth ‘waste to energy’ project. Schneider Electric launches solar power solutions

Andhra Pradesh to offer more sops for roof top solar units

According to reports, Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to offer some more sops to encourage solar power generation in the State. This includes additional subsidy of 20 per cent for roof top units on behalf of the State. This will be in addition to the subsidies offered by the Centre.
