Green energy to get special lending window at public sector banks

According to reports, the government is set to ask banks to carve out a special window for lending to renewable energy projects. The advisory may come as early as Monday when finance minister P Chidambaram meets state-run bank chiefs. Renewable Energy Contributes 12.5% in total power generation

The present installed capacity of power generation in the country is about 2,12,829 MW which includes 26,920 MW from renewable sources. This constitutes 12.5% contribution of renewable in the total power generation installed capacity in the country. MNRE signs programme of cooperation with CDTI, Govt. Of Spain

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India has signed a “Programme of Cooperation” (POC) with the “Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology” (CDTI), Government of Spain on 23rd November, 2011 as a joint Indo-Spanish Technological Cooperation to promote and fund innovation driven joint R&D collaborative projects in the field of Renewable Energy. Govt to float tenders for solar photovoltaic power projects

According to reports, the government is set to invite tenders for developing grid-connected solar photovoltaic power projects with a capacity of 750 mw by May, signalling the launch of the second phase of the national solar mission. The mission will seek to increase the share of grid connected solar power to 3,000 mw and cumulative deployment of solar power in the whole country to 10,000 mw by 2017. Gammon India to amalgamate its subsidiary Pravara Renewable Energy (PREL) with itself

Gammon India (GIL), construction and engineering major is planning to amalgamate its 100% power generating subsidiary Pravara Renewable Energy (PREL) with itself. PREL is working towards making a petition to the Bombay High Court for approval of the amalgamation.  It is also working on establishment of a 30MW co-generation power project at Pravaranagar in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. US doublespeak on solar sops bared

According to reports, the US has dragged India to the World Trade Organization for its scheme to incentivize locally-made solar cells, but an analysis shows that there are at least half-a-dozen American states that offer additional sops to equipment made or assembled within their jurisdiction. According to reports, in 2007, Arun Shenoy and Mandar Kaprekar met while working at Trane, a US-based manufacturer of large air-conditioning systems.
