50 MW first phase of 150 MW Dhule solar power plant to be operational from March 20

According to reports, the Dhule-based solar power plant which is expected to generate 150 MW power is likely to be made operational from March 20 this year. The first phase would add 50 MW power to the state grid, said government officials. Tangedco chooses 29 firms to set up 226 MW of solar power plants in Tamil Nadu

According to reports, as many as 29 firms have been chosen by the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) for putting up solar power plants of an aggregate capacity of 226 megawatt (MW). The price at which the Corporation will solar power from the proposed plants will, in the beginning, be Rs. 6.48 per unit. Central Electricity Authority of India conducts Tidal energy study

A study for the assessment of tidal energy potential in the country has been conducted by the Central Electricity Authority. According to the study, there is an estimated potential of about 7000 MW in the Gulf of Cambay, 1200 MW in the Gulf of Kutch in the State of Gujarat and about 100 MW in the Gangetic Delta in the Sunderbans region of West Bengal. According to reports, the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) is developing renewable energy-based cooling technology in partnership with Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia and an industrial organisation in India. According to reports, Pennar Industries Ltd has diversified into cold-form building sector, setting up of solar photo-voltaic power plants and offering water treatment solutions.
