149 Private Sector Solar Power Projects selected under India’s National Solar Mission phase-I

Indian government has allotted solar power projects through open competitive bidding in which private sector has got several projects. So far, 149 nos. of private sector solar power projects with an aggregate 1110 MW capacity (139 nos./610 MW based on  Solar PV technology and 10 nos./ 500 MW based on Solar Thermal technology) have been selected under different schemes of JNNSM Phase-1. India constitutes Offshore Wind Energy Steering Committee

The Government has constituted an Offshore Wind Energy Steering Committee under the chairmanship of Secretary, M/o New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) associating the stakeholder Ministries to steer the offshore wind energy development in the country in a directed and focused manner including modality for inter-agency coordination. MNRE release about Rs 12.8 billion subsidy for offgrid solar applications in last four years

The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy under the Off-grid and Decentralized Applications Scheme of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission is providing a subsidy of 30% of the cost of solar lanterns, home lights, streets lights, solar water pumping systems and solar water heating systems. MNRE clarifies that schemes for development of solar & wind energy not state specific

The schemes for development of solar and wind energy are not state specific. The project developers are free to develop solar and wind power plants under schemes of the Central Government at a location of their choice including Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh subject to the fulfillment of the prescribed terms and conditions laid down in the scheme. Bond Defaulter Suzlon Hires Banks for Sale of Notes

According to reports, Suzlon Energy Ltd. (SUEL), the Indian wind turbine maker that failed to repay convertible debt last year, plans to raise $650 million selling five-year bonds, according to a person familiar with the matter. Suzlon, based in the western Indian city of Pune, hired JPMorgan Chase & Co. and SBI Capital Markets Ltd. to manage the sale, the person said, asking not to be identified because the terms aren’t set. Govt incentive will fuel wind power sector: Gamesa India head

According to reports, renewal of generation based incentive to wind power developers will lead to additional capacity of 6,000MW by financial year 2015, Ramesh Kymal, chairman of Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association said here today.
