According to reports, power solutions provider Su-Kam Power Systems has completed the installation for the Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency’s (TEDA) centralized street light project scheme.
Su-Kam has installed centralized solar photo voltaic power plants of each 500W that will power a cluster of 10 existing lights from each photo voltaic plant, through the distribution network of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco), with provision for grid backup.
This is the first project in India for centralized street light system. The project is spread across seven districts in western Tamil Nadu, and will power 3220 street lights through 322 500W units designed for TEDA. Su-Kam will be responsible for commissioning and comprehensive maintenance for 5 years of the project, the company said in a statement.
All the sites will be remotely monitored to ensure proper data output even at distant locations, and the Remote Monitoring Units will be integrated to the centralized solar power plants for monitoring the system performance, the company said.
