According to reports, Tamil Nadu government should raise the subsidy for establishing solar power generation to 50 per cent with immediate effect so that the small and medium households and trader and business community also could opt for it, said the State BJP Vice President and National Executive member H Raja.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr. Raja pointed out that the State had been undergoing one of the worst periods of power outage ranging from 12 to 16 hours.
While welcoming the solar policy of the State government, he insisted that the State should enhance the subsidy from its present 30 per cent to at least 50 per cent.
This, he said would benefit all small and medium households and traders since solar power’s limiting factor was its huge initial investment.
Dismissing the claims of Union government that power could not be given to Tamil Nadu citing technical reasons such as grid and transmission congestion, the BJP’s former MLA said that it was any Central government’s responsibility to ensure equitable distribution of all, including power to all States.
