India-US discuss domestic content issues in National Solar Mission

India targets 30 GW of renewable energy capacity addition in 12’th plan period

India has a  total power generation capacity of around 26,267 MW from renewables  in the country as on 31.10.2012. A target of adding about 30,000 MW from various renewable energy sources has been fixed for the 12th Plan period. Installation of solar lights in Tamil Nadu districts intensified

According to reports, village panchayats have intensified installation of solar streetlights not only to face acute power shortage but also scale down expenses. To begin with, installation commenced in 46 village panchayats at an estimated cost of Rs.1.1 crore. India to invest in Iran renewable energy sector

According to reports, India will provide money and technical know-how to Iran to build wind and solar power plants, the Iranian official media reported Monday. Both sides have already finalised an agreement, Xinhua quoted the Press TV as saying. Offshore farms to harness wind energy in India

According to reports, an expert committee has suggested that offshore farms to harness wind energy may be set up at Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari, Maharashtra, Kerala-Konkan and Gujarat, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
