ExxonMobil to develop gear oil for wind turbines

According to reports, ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialities is in the process of developing more advanced gear oil for wind turbines. The company announced that its flagship Mobilgear SHC XMP 320 gear oil is now being used to protect more than 40,000 wind turbine gearboxes worldwide. According to Shankar Karnik, Asia Pacific Mobil SHC Brand Manager, this oil exceeds the performance of conventional, mineral-based oils by extending the interval between oil changes from 18 months to three years or even more. The company now offers its signature Signum Oil Analysis programme to monitor the performance of the oil and components to operators, on an ongoing basis.
