According to reports, on a special visit to Nubra Valley of Leh district, CM J&K Omar Abdullah today at Tsati village laid the foundation stone for 6 (six) mini hydel projects under Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Govt. of India flagship programme being installed under the Ladakh Renewable Energy Initiative Project implemented by the Ladakh Renewable Energy Development Agency (LREDA), LAHDC, Leh under the head of Jigmet Takpa, Project Director, LREDA. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of Degree College Nubra at Diskit.
The hydel projects include Tsati Micro Hydel Project (MHP) 500 KV, Turtuk MHP 500 KV, Chalungkha MHP 800 KV, Bogdang MHP 800 KV, Hinache MHP 600 KV and Chamshren MHP 450 KV at the total cost of Rs.52.13 crores and are expected to be completed by October 2013. Besides, paper works on five other mini hydel projects in Nubra valley are under process which is expected to be fully functional by 2014 and the success of these projects will cater to the electricity need of the entire valley, said Jigmet Takpa while giving a brief note on the projects.
