REC oversupply depresses prices to floor

According to reports, oversupply of renewable energy certificates resulted in low volume of sales and depressed prices in the REC trading for the month of October, which took place today. Against a total of 10,12,660 non-solar RECs offered for sale, only 2,22,700 got sold, and that too, at the floor price of Rs 1,500 a certificate on both the power exchanges—IEX and PXIL. Thiruvananthapuram Solar City project back on track

According to reports, a Union government project to make Thiruvananthapuram a ‘Solar City’ is showing signs of revival. The project lay dormant for two years, until the last Corporation Council meeting. The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy had decided to make Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi ‘Solar Cities’ under the 11th Five Year Plan. Voltech, NanoPV to set up 100 MW solar module plant near Chennai

According to reports, the Voltech Group of Chennai and US-based NanoPV have joined hands to set up a 100 MW solar module manufacturing plant near Chennai and a solar park near Tuticorin. Indian, overseas power exchanges to discuss issues next month

According to reports, representatives from the Indian Energy Exchange and more than 30 power bourses worldwide, including those from the US and Germany, will deliberate on electricity trading and related issues here next month. Soon, subsidy for solar power generators for homes

According to reports, An easy option to escape from hackles of rising power bills is in the offing.  The Union government will provide 30% subsidy for installing home solar power generation systems. The ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) will be soon ready with a new national scheme that will allow house or flat owners to install solar panels on rooftops.
