Suzlon Group signs contract for 131 MW Australian wind farm project at $A 260mn

Suzlon Group-subsidiary, REpower Systems SE, has signed a contract with Meridian Energy Limited to supply 64 MM92 wind turbines, each with 2.05 MW of rated power, to the Mt Mercer wind farm. The Mt Mercer wind farm project is based in Victoria, Australia, located approximately 30 km south of Ballarat. This is REpower’s first contract with Meridian Energy and the company’s largest ‘supply & install’ contract for its MM series turbines in Australia to date.

“The project will have a total capital cost of around 260 million Australian dollars and is scheduled to be installed and commissioned between September 2013 and January 2015,” the company said.

Speaking about the contract, Mr Chris Judd, CEO, REpower Australia, said, “Being awarded this contract during our ‘10 years in Australia’ celebrations underscores REpower Australia’s longstanding commitment to the Australian wind energy industry and the opportunities presented by the renewable energy target which will deliver around 7 GW of new wind generating capacity in Australia by 2020.”
