According to reports, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that an Escort Officer would be in place to help entrepreneurs keen on setting up non-conventional energy projects in the State.
At a review meeting with officials on solar and wind energy on Saturday, Mr. Reddy directed officials to monitor and coordinate non-conventional energy generation every fortnight. New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) would be the nodal agency to facilitate setting up of projects in solar, wind and mini-hydel sectors.
Representatives of NEDCAP and wind and solar energy manufacturers associations attended the meeting along with the Ministers Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Uttam Kumar Reddy and T. G. Venkatesh and Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew.
Mr. Reddy said that the government would encourage generation of wind and solar energy in a big way and welcomed the entrepreneurs to Andhra Pradesh. He said wind energy had a lot of potential in Rayalaseema. Officials told the Chief Minister that the estimated gross potential of wind power in AP is 8,275 MW.
