Andhra Pradesh power utilities to invest Rs 140 billion in four years

According to reports, the government-owned power utilities of Andhra Pradesh plan to invest Rs 14,000 crore in the next four years to improve the power generation, a said a senior official of the Andhra Pradesh government here today.

“In the next four years, it is proposed to add around 7,000 km of extra high tension lines and another 166 EHT sub-stations out of which four are 400kV, 37 are 220kV and 125 are 132kV, with an investment of about Rs 6,000 crore.

Also, Rs 8,000 crore will be invested in strengthening of distribution lines and erection of new distribution transformers,” Andhra Pradesh Transmission Corporation’s chairman and managing director Hiralal Samariya said, while addressing employees of power utilities.

He said that demand for power is expected to increase manifold in the coming years and the power utilities should develop infrastructure.
