Gogoi inaugurates solar plant in IIM-Shillong

According to reports, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today inaugurated a solar power plant at IIM-Shillong campus to meet the needs of the institute.

Gogoi, who is on his first visit to IIM-Shillong, inaugurated a 50 KW solar power plants aimed at providing clean energy to the IIM campus here.

There has been a demand  from the power ministers of the north east based on which a proposal for hundred per cent funding of solar power projects in the North East was, with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy .The North East gets 90 per cent assistance from the Government of India already.

The minister has supported this demand earlier and had noted that as  a number of areas in those regions are ones, where transmission lines have not reached, and it would take a long time for transmission lines to come, the ministry in full measure was trying to help.
