ONGC gets over 120,000 carbon credit for its 51MW Bhuj wind farm

According to reports, state-run energy firm Oil & Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has received 121,207 carbon credits by the  United Nations body on Climate Change to its 51 MW wind power project at Bhuj in Gujarat.

“This is the first issuance of credits from this project and second overall from the oil major’s cache of six registered environment-improvement projects,” ONGC said in a statement.
ONGC has been earning carbon credits since Mar 2010 from its waste heat recovery project at Mumbai High.

“We are positioning sustainable development with a key focus on environment management in our recently declared long-term perspective plan 2030,” ONGC CMD Sudhir Vasudeva said.
The wind power project of ONGC was registered in Mar 2010 for 21 years with an annual accruable certified emission reduction of 85,762.

“This is the maiden issuance for the monitoring period from Mar 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. ONGC has a cache of six such environment-improvement projects,” the statement said.
