According to reports, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) in association with the Mysore City Corporation, Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and Institution of Engineers, Mysore chapter on Tuesday organised a workshop on the use of renewable energy and the proper utilisation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) here.
Besides creating awareness on the potential of harnessing solar power for meeting daily energy requirements, the workshop gave tips on conserving cooking gas. Mayor Rajeshwari Puttaswamy, who inaugurated the workshop, said Mysore has been identified under a project of developing solar cities and therefore more impetus had been given for promoting renewable energy, in particular solar energy.
MCC Commissioner K.S. Raykar also spoke. He said Mysore and Hubli-Dharwad in the State have been identified by the Centre for developing them as solar cities.“Accordingly, steps had been taken to have solar street lights in some parts of the city, besides planning various other projects for promoting solar energy,” he said.
