Sun shines over renewable energy in India

According to reports, the Indian renewable energy industry has never had it so good. Wind power installations in 2011-12 were the highest in a single financial year, at 3,163 MW, taking the total installed capacity to 17,320 MW. The Centre has announced an ambitious national solar mission under which 20,000 MW of solar power capacity will be added in the next decade. Suzlon Loses Second Top Manager as Repower Finance Chief Quits

According to reports, Suzlon Energy Ltd. (SUEL), India’s biggest wind turbine maker, lost its second senior manager in less than a month after the chief financial officer of its German unit Repower SE resigned. Derrick Noe resigned from Repower’s executive board of directors on April 19 “due to different views on the company’s future business strategy,” the company said in a website statement dated yesterday. According to reports, French consulting-IT major to focus on specialised areas in energy, tax and telecom European consulting major Capgemini is bracing for a major play in the domestic information technology services market in India. Suzlon arm REpower wins 276-MW European orders

According to reports, Suzlon Group subsidiary REpower Systems SE has secured cumulative orders worth about 276 MW across Europe in the past two months valued at $387 million. In a communication to the stock exchanges, Suzlon said these included orders obtained during February 11-April 15 this year from clients in Italy, France, Germany, Poland and the UK. Inox Wind commissions commercial production at Himachal Pradesh

According to reports, Inox Wind Limited (IWL), a subsidiary of  Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited and part of US $ 2 billion Inox Group, on Monday announced commissioning and commencement of commercial production of its wind turbine generator manufacturing unit situated at Khasra industrial area in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district. “On March 26, the Una unit dispatched its first unit comprising of nacelles and hubs for its 2 MW wind turbine,” the company said in a release, adding that its 2 MW ... India’s Renewable Energy ministry forms Offshore wind energy panel

According to reports, in a bid to give a big thrust to wind power, the Ministry for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has constituted an Offshore Wing Energy Steering Committee (OWESC) under the chairmanship of Secretary, MNRE to steer the offshore wind power development in India in a directed and focused manner especially in Tamil Nadu, Maharahstra and Gujarat.
