Pondicherry people to sell solar power to grid

According to reports, Puducherry residents  will soon “sell power”. The ministry of new and renewable energy is planning with the state government to install solar panels on rooftops of houses in Puducherry and excess power generated would be fed to the common grid. Residents would get paid for excess production in summer and will be able to borrow power during rains for a nominal charge. ABB commissions 3 sub-stations for PowerGrid

According to reports, power and automation technology group ABB has commissioned three 765 kV sub-stations for Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL). The sub-stations are located in Wardha, Maharashtra, Seoni, Madhya Pradesh and Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, according to a press statement. From the current inter-regional power flow capacity of 27,950 MW, the company aims to take the capacity up to 80,000 MW through four main regional transmission grids, the statement said. According to reports, India’s coastal States should look at offshore wind farms to generate energy. Karnataka bidding results announced- 10 firms to set up solar projects

According to reports, a total of 10 companies plan to set up solar projects in the State under the Karnataka Solar Mission over the next six months. Of these, eight companies plan to set up solar photovoltaic projects for 60 MW, while two will set up solar thermal projects of 10 MW each. “Most projects will come up in North Karnataka,” Mr N.S. L&T commissions 6-MW solar project for Sun Group in Gujarat

According to reports, Larsen & Toubro has commissioned a six-MW solar project for Sun Group in Gujarat. L&T said the project, at Gujarat Solar Park in Patan district, was commissioned in a little over three months. The current capacity of the park is 215 MW. Sun Group is a leading principal investor and private equity fund manager in India, Russia and other emerging markets. Chennai readies to give India its solar atlas

According to reports, Chennai is readying to give India its solar atlas, which will have details on radiation of solar energy in various cities in the country. India’s Gujarat Targets 20% of Power From Renewables by 2020

According to reports, India’s western state of Gujarat plans to generate 20 percent of its electricity from clean sources by 2020, Principal Secretary of Energy D.J.
