According to reports, wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Ltd. Monday said it has been selected as the preferred supplier by Cennergi Pty Ltd. for a 138 megawatt wind energy project in South Africa.
Cennergi is an equal joint venture between South Africa’s Exxaro Resources Ltd. and India’s Tata Power Co. Ltd.
Cennergi has chosen to use 66 of Suzlon’s S97-2.1 MW turbines for the project, located in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, the company said.
If definitive agreements are reached, Suzlon will deliver the turbines as part of a full engineering, procurement and construction pact.
Construction at the project is expected to start in 2013.
