BHEL to get into wind energy generation equipment manufacturing

According to reports, in a bid to create newer streams of revenue, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) is mulling entry into production of  wind energy generation equipment.
“We would like to get into this segment for topline growth,” said T N Veeraraghavan , executive director of BHEL, Ranipet. ‘We have already floated an expression of interest and some parties have also shown interest. We are still deciding on the suitable business model. We might tie up with or acquire a party in the renewable energy area.”
The BHEL unit, which clocked revenues of Rs 4,210 crore and profit before tax of Rs 1,260 crore in 2011-12 , is also looking to enlarge business in water treatment and pollution abatement segments like Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD). It is looking to garner revenues of Rs 5,000 crore in 2012-13.
