Accelerated Depreciation Tax Break for Wind ends; may stall India Wind Investments

According to reports, spending on new wind farms in India, the world’s third-largest market for turbine producers such as Suzlon Energy Ltd. (SUEL) and Gamesa Corp. Reliance Power’s 40MW solar energy plant starts power production in Rajasthan

According to reports, the desert state on Saturday achieved the glory of having the country’s biggest  solar power generation plant. The 40MW plant has been set up at Dhoodsar village near Pokhran in Jaisalmer district and the plant started power generation from Saturday. India Signs Three Loan Agreements with ADB Worth US $826 Mn for Facilitating Power Transmission

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India today signed three loan agreements worth $826 million aimed at shoring up power transmission systems to help India efficiently transfer electricity from surplus regions to power-deficit regions. Reliance Power eyes 300 MW solar capacity in 3 years; to invest Rs 60 billion

According to reports, Anil Ambani group company Reliance Power proposes to take its solar capacity to 300 MW by 2015, with an investment of Rs 6,000 crore. An ambitious target that will light over five lakh households. India National solar mission: Government says Lanco Infratech flouted norms, but not involved in scam

According to reports, Lanco Infratech flouted norms of the national solar mission, but made up for it after a warning issued by the government, informed a senior official with the ministry of new and renewable energy. Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission raises power tariff by 37%

According to reports, Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) on Friday announced a 37 per cent hike in the power tariff, covering both domestic and industry sectors, a move that will fetch an additional Rs 7,874 crore and bail out the state electricity board which is in the red.
