According to reports, Tamil Nadu will have an additional 5,000 MW of power before 2017 which will help resolve peak power and energy shortage the state faces at present, according to Vision 2023.
A total investment of Rs 4.5 lakh crore is needed to boost the power scenario in the state. New power generation capacity dedicated for Tamil nadu, located within the state or elsewhere, will account for a bulk of investments worth Rs 280,000 crore.
The state is also planning to establish a Rs 20,000 crore smart grid system sparking innovation in energy management at all levels. It is also giving special thrust to green power by maximising investments in wind power to create incremental generation capacity of 5,000 MW and 5,00 MW in solar energy.
